How to give out Gospel Tracts

Many people have come to faith in Christ through Gospel tracts. One of those people was Hudson Taylor, the great missionary to China.

Places to leave Gospel Tracts - in this case, invites to a Gospel presentation on a Website Evangelism website such as The Ultimate Test or The Good Person Test

  • In books in waiting rooms
  • In hotel rooms after you leave
  • In restrooms
  • At restaurants on the table after you leave
  • Placed on wiper blades on cars in parking lots
  • In the seat in front of you on a plane trip in a magazine
  • In your return bill envelope
  • Letter boxes but not an official government post box
  • Include with Christmas Cards
  • When paying for your groceries,
  • At any checkout counter such as when you get petrol/gas or takeaways
  • When paying your bus fare

Just be careful not to litter.

It's also important to learn to give the Gospel invite personally to someone. A Gospel tract should not be a substitute for learning how to personally give an account of the hope you have as we are commanded in 1 Peter 3:15.

You may be a bit shy or uncertain at the start, but for Jesus sake and the Gospel, this is something you can work on. Courage does not mean that you are not afraid, it means that you act even when you may be afraid. Remember, he who is with us is greater than he who is in the world.

Start with people you know and who already know you are a Christian. Then work your way up to strangers.

Talk to God about men before you talk to men about God...

Pray that God will give you opportunities then when they come, act on them in faith.

Be prepared for him to answer that prayer. Before you leave the house in the morning, put at least one tract in your pocket or purse.

What do you say when you hand out a tract?

Begin with a polite greeting that will get their initial attention such as "Hello", "Hi", "Good morning", "Excuse me sir/madam/miss"

Then when you get a response (they turn to look at you or speak to you) ask, "Did you get one of these?" as you are handing the tract out. It creates curiosity and prevents the possibility of an early negative response such as if you were to ask, "Would you like one of these".

What do you do when a person takes a tract?

Well, you could walk on or you could look for an opportunity to engage in conversation.

The person receiving the tract may actually hep you with this because if you pause for a moment, after giving out the tract, they will most likely start to read it and/or ask "What's this?" That's your opportunity to be out front with them and say, "It's online interactive presentation of the central message of the Bible." This is very important that you speak honestly and directly. If you know them personally, you can add, "Check it out and let me know what you think."

Your love for the lost will get motivate you to grow and become better at this. But remember, even the 'best' will have negative responses at times. After all, Jesus did make it clear that there would be different responses when the Gospel seed is sown.

Remember, our responsibility is to sow the seed in prayer and with love and leave the rest to the Lord.

Many people have learned to take someone through the Good Person Test personally. This is a good way to learn how to present the Gospel and it also personalises the presentation.

Visit The Good Person Test and do the INTERACTIVE version. Practice on a Christian friend. Learn key Scriptures by going to the TEXT version of the Good Person Test on the same website. Remember, there will be a discipleship/training aspect to this but stick at it and you will get better as you go. Remember, you're sowing the seed, God will water it and give the increase.
